ARE YOU PREPARED???

Would you be ready if a storm hit?

Hurricanes don't affect just the southern states, NJ has had its fair share of problems when named hurricanes roll up the coast. Please check the weather reports and follow what is being reported about Hurricane Matthew - and Hurricane Nicole.

We will be sharing important emergency planning information for pet owners and non-pet families alike. Please review, download and print at home if you haven't picked up a hard copy packet from the shelter recently.

For those families with pets, it is important for you to make plans and take precautions BEFORE any storm arrives.

The first step is to make sure ALL pets are microchipped - dogs AND cats. A pet lost in the shuffle of evacuating can be easily returned home if picked up by authorities IF it has a microchip to identify it. And if your pet does go missing, the first thing you want to do is report it immediately by calling the shelter during business hours or calling the police department all other times.

Don't be lulled into a false sense of security by saying "oh, my pet never goes out" or "my pet never leaves the yard"... accidents happen and we DO pick up strays that "never get out"...

We are open daily for visitors from 12-4 and welcome walk-ins to microchip pets. Other times may be honored by calling us at 973-744-8600 in advance to make an appointment.

Don't wait until it's too late. Most animals found stray without microchips don't ever make it back home - don't let your pet become a statistic.
